Following Rayshard Brooks’ tragic death earlier this month, many have offered their support to his family.

On Friday (June 19), attorney Chris Stewart shared that Brooks’ children will receive full scholarships from Clark Atlanta University. In addition to that, Tomika Miller, the wife of Brooks, was gifted with a brand new vehicle.

“Love wins no matter the tragedy or tough time,” Stewart wrote on Instagram alongside a video of a teary-eyed Miller. “This isn’t about your views on the shooting. This is about a mother and wife who lost her husband and the father of 4 kids in the blink of an eye and is left with no car, all the bills and mental trauma. The pain, sadness and fear cannot be explained. Seeing it everyday working with her it’s heartbreaking. But our community has rallied around the family.”

In another post, Stewart shared a photo of Miller smiling in front of her new car. “@pinky907 @sluttyveganatl and @bigdavescheesesteaks just surprised Tomika with a car for her and the kids. What a blessing in a time of total depression after losing their dad. And that’s not all, they got @cau1988 to provide full scholarships to all the kids guaranteed 🙌🏾🙌🏾,” he wrote.

The thoughtful gifts came after ex-officer Garrett Rolfe, who fatally shot Brooks, was charged with felony murder. The other cop Devin Brosnan, who was at the scene of the Wendy’s parking lot in Georgia, was charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts of violating his oath.

A few days before the charges were announced, Brooks’ family attended a press conference where they spoke about their frustrations. “We’re tired and we are frustrated. Most importantly we’re heartbroken, so we need justice for Rayshard Brooks. The trust that we have in the police force is broken. The only way to heal some of these wounds is through a conviction and a drastic change in the police department,” Brooks’ cousin said.
