To celebrate 4/20 in social distancing style, Weedmaps is hosting an all-day virtual Higher Together festival. According to a flyer posted from Weedmaps’ Instagram, the Smoker’s Club-sponsored event will include musical and comedy performances, live smoke sessions, prize giveaways and more. Wiz Khalifa, who will also release his The Saga of Wiz Khalifa EP that day, is slated to headline the event with a DJ set and smoke session.
“420 is best spent together and for the 420est 4/20 of the century, we’re making sure that’s possible,” Weedmaps’ Instagram post read. “Kick back at home and enjoy performances, prize giveaways, and more. It’s all going down next Monday, April 20, 2020 from 12PM – 5PM PST. See you behind the screen!
Fellow Taylor Gang rapper Berner, Billy Ray Cyrus, Ari Lennox, Stephen Marley, Dave East, Cam’ron, The Alchemist and more are also scheduled to perform virtually, including additional “surprise special guests.”
April 20 will also be commemorated with Dr. Dre’s The Chronic finally arriving on streaming services via EntertainmentOne.
“Fans now have another reason to celebrate on what has become a national holiday, celebrating all things cannabis-related – where legally allowed and in moderation of course,” EntertainmentOne Global President of Music & Live Chris Taylor previously said of the Compton artist’s 1992 classic.
“Working with the Death Row catalogue is like working with the legendary recordings of Elvis, Chuck Berry and the Beatles,” Taylor continued. “These historic artifacts should be heard by all music lovers and we are so happy Dr. Dre has opened this door so everyone can experience the brilliance of this seminal work.”
In other 4/20 news, this year’s date will also be marked with the Netflix debut of Kelis’ marijuana cooking competition show “Cooked With Cannabis.” The inaugural season will include six episodes co-hosted by the “Milkshake” singer and chef Leather Storrs.
Interested viewers can access the Higher Together festival on the Weedmaps website from 12 to 5 pm PST next Monday (April 20). See the official flyer below.
