Michelle Obama has curated the perfect playlist to get you ready to cast your vote in the 2020 Presidential Election.

The former First Lady teamed up with LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells to create a 10-track playlist of hip hop songs that embody the importance of voting. The playlist includes songs from artists such as Public Enemy, Black Sheep, The Roots, Black Star, Whodini, Queen Latifah, Doug E. Fresh, Slick Rick, Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five, Kurtis Blow, Run-DMC and Big Daddy Kane.

In 2018, Obama launched her When We Vote initiative to increase voter participation in every election. According to the organization’s website, they are also on a mission to “close the race and age voting gap by changing the culture around voting, harnessing grassroots energy and through strategic partnerships to reach every American.”

Over the summer, the former First Lady enlisted help from 2 Chainz to spread awareness about voting rights for those who were formerly incarcerated.

The Based On A T.R.U. Story emcee shared a video message about voting. “As you know, or may not know, me as well as many peers of my age and where I’m from have been incarcerated maybe once or twice in their lifetime,” he said in the YouTube clip. “And for those of you that have been through those unfortunate circumstances, I would like to notify you about some of the things and give you some real clarity about voting and your rights.”

2 Chainz then went on to share that the laws varied from state to state. “So basically, it just depends on what state you live in,” he said. “Each state has different laws. If you live in Maine, Vermont or D.C., you never actually lose your rights to vote — even while being incarcerated.”

Obama most recently teamed up with LeBron James’ More Than A Vote initiative to encourage early voting. Both organizations will provide early voters in select cities with food, music, protective equipment and information — if they make their way to the polls between Oct. 18-31. Targeted cities include Orlando, Florida; Detroit, Michigan; Charlotte, North Carolina and Los Angeles, California.

“It’s now up to us to do everything in our power to get our friends and family ready to vote early and safely together,” Obama told the Associated Press. “We can’t leave anyone behind. I’m proud of the work When We All Vote will do with More Than A Vote and our partners to help provide on-the-ground support for Americans who will cast their ballots early.”
