Earlier today (July 22), R. Kelly's crisis manager, Darrell Johnson, sat down for an interview with Gayle King.
During their conversation, the two spoke about Kelly's latest sex crime changes. King asked Johnson whether or not he would leave his daughter alone with the accused pedophile.
"You have a 20-something-year-old daughter. Would you allow her to be alone with--" King asked to which Johnson replied, "Absolutely not." King clarified her question and asked Johnson specifically about the 52-year-old singer.
"I would not leave my daughter with anyone who's accused of pedophilia," Johnson said.
The CBS This Morning host believes that it's a contradiction that Johnson would defend Kelly. Johnson explained that since joining Kelly's team, he has seen women come and go as they please, despite reports that Kelly has sex slaves.
"Here's what I say: I never call anybody a liar," Johnson replied. "I came on seven months ago. I walked into a front door, and I seen Mr. Kelly being a normal person .... Mr. Kelly was recording. Twenty minutes later, [the two women] walked in with shopping bags, no security, free [to go], doing what they wanted to do, and I spent a lot of time with Mr. Kelly. And I still say my eye is trained. I haven't seen anything that would cause me to be suspicious."
Elsewhere during their conversation, Johnson explained that Kelly isn't in the right state of mind. "[He's] a mess right now. He's afraid, he's scared, he's isolated," Jonson said. He further explained that Kelly being in solitary doesn't benefit his mental health.
Kelly is currently facing up to 195 years in prison in Chicago. Earlier this month, the Trapped in the Closet singer was charged with 13 new federal charges including child pornography and obstruction of justice.
