Are you pumped for Revolt TV's "State Of The Culture" live presentation at the REVOLT Summit kickoff event in Brooklyn, New York on July 24? Well, so are we! There's no other show conducting social and pop culture commentary quite like this, and the occasion is going to be a great time. The icing on top? The show's live taping will feature special guest A$AP Ferg!
From the heated debates to the games to the honest delivery, there are so many ways "SOTC" serves the people. In anticipation of the kickoff event, here are five reasons we can't get enough of this "keep it realer than real" show.
1) You're going to hear all sides
This is not the type of talking head show where everyone nods in agreement. This panel is diverse in thought, which means everyone is going to contribute something different to the discussion. Sure, it leads to heated moments (remember that Bill Cosby showdown?). However, it all makes for riveting conversation. You certainly will not be disappointed.
2) You receive insight with industry insiders' perspectives
Hearing about celebrity and music industry news is one thing when you're on the outside looking in. But, getting the scoop through the lens of folks who live and breathe the industry brings more color to the convo. For example, as artists, Joe and Remy can sniff out real beef vs. a publicity stunt in an instant. They can cut through the industry jargon and give us the tea in layman's terms. Jinx's experience as someone who's worked in media allows him to accurately call out publications when they get it wrong. We love it when real ones keep it 100.
3) Our hosts aren't afraid to be vulnerable
The SOTC hosts put their hearts on their sleeves (cue a Joe Budden tear). It's the passion that really puts things into perspective. From De La Soul's shady record deal to Nipsey Hussle's untimely death, we have seen the hosts' visceral reactions to timely news, while sharing their pain. Their honest responses and willingness to bear all are what keeps us watching.
4) The Fashions
There is never a dull moment in the style department on this show. Budden's wide brim hat collection is still thriving, Remy Ma steps on set looking like a whole snack every episode -- the YouTube commenters agree! -- and Jinx's sneaker collection always makes us do a double take. Even though the hosts take friendly shots at each other's wardrobe, it's all in good fun. That's what family does!
5) Jokes on Jokes
Speaking of taking shots, we love the dynamic between our "SOTC" panel. Nobody is above being the butt of the joke from time to time. Go for the commentary, stay for the laughs.
Season 2 of "State of the Culture" premieres Tuesday, August 6 at 10:00 p.m. EST.
