Back in March, we reported a North Carolina judge dismissed all charges against Da Baby in connection to a fatal shooting that took place at a Walmart outside of Charlotte because a key witness failed to appear in court. Unsatisfied by the decision, the state attorney's office continued to pursue the matter.

On Thursday, the 27-year-old rapper, real name Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, was found guilty of carrying a concealed weapon after prosecutors were granted a retrial. District attorney's office spokeswoman Meghan McDonald told The Charlotte Observer state law allowed them to recharge DaBaby because of the circumstances surrounding the case.

In November 2018, DaBaby alleged that two men aggressively approached him while he was shopping at a Huntersville Walmart with his two small children and their mother. Authorities were contacted after shots were fired inside of the store.

When police arrived at the store, 19-year-old Jalyn Craig died on the scene after suffering a gunshot wound to the stomach. The "Suge" rapper recounted the incident via Instagram Stories and said his involvement was an act of self-defense.

"If them gunshots ain't go off, n-gga, my fucking daughter could've got hit, son could've got hit, me," he said. "Fucking lawyers telling me not to say something and shit, fuck all that. Two n-ggas walk down on you and your whole motherfucking family, threaten y'all, whip out on y'all, n-gga, let me see what y'all gon' too. You feel me?"

Craig's cousin, Quinae Horsley, said that "the family is satisfied" with the verdict, but is still seeking justice for the deceased. DaBaby was sentenced to one year of unsupervised probation and 30 days in jail. However, the jail sentence was suspended, according to TMZ. DaBaby's legal troubles are far from over. Just last week, rapper Don Trag filed a lawsuit against the "Goin Baby" rapper after he claimed the rapper's security team attacked him outside of a club in Massachusetts. Trag says the altercation resulted in him going into a coma. He's seeking $100,000 for compensation as he recovers.
