It's June, so you know what that means -- it's Black Music Month! All month long, REVOLT TV will be celebrating black recording artists who are making a name for themselves in the music industry -- in other words, making their own black music history.

Yes, there are countless musicians who are recognized for helping make black music -- and all of its genres -- what it is today. But, there are many new stars who are pushing the culture forward with their musical perspectives, as well. For example, some rappers who are doing the damn thing in today's hip hop scene are Megan Thee Stallion, Tierra Whack, Roddy Ricch and DaBaby. If you haven't heard their music by now, then you need to because they're a few of the hottest talents today and 2019 will, for sure, be theirs for the taking.

From their hot music to their creativity, their swag and more, these rappers are gearing up to take hip hop to the next level. In honor of them, here are some quotes from each of the stars that illustrate why they should be celebrated now and in the near future. Happy Black Music Month!

Megan Thee Stallion

"You can put on Megan Thee Stallion and remind yourself: You know what, I am bad. People who like to be in control, people who are naturally the boss, that's who my music is for."

DaBaby

"I'm not afraid to be creative and push the envelope when it comes to creating a vision for my music…. I'm making it okay to have fun with your content."

Tierra Whack

"I just had to figure out how to bring it together. I knew I was doing something new. It couldn't just be audio, I had to capture their attention. I had to make a video to every single song."

Roddy Ricch

"When I drop, I just drop. I don't play no one else's game and I don't run no one else's race because if I did that, I wouldn't be who I am."
