John Singleton, co-creator of FX's "Snowfall," will keep his executive producer credit on the series following his untimely passing last week.

TMZ exclusively broke the news on Sunday (May 5). "Snowfall," which is set to return to the network on July 10, is currently wrapping its third season. However, sources close to production told the site there are "no plans" to remove Singleton's executive producer status.

Singleton played an instrumental role as director and producer for the drama series set in 1980s Los Angeles during the crack epidemic. The cast and crew have reportedly received the day off to attend the beloved filmmaker's private funeral today (May 6).

On Monday (April 29), Singleton's family made the decision to take him off of life support after the 51-year-old suffered a major stroke two weeks prior. Damson Idris, star of "Snowfall," released a tribute to the late director on Instagram following the news. "I lost my big brother today. The one person in this industry that gave me a shot. The person who is responsible for where I am today in my career & the direction I am going," he wrote.

Idris went on to note Singleton's influence in his community and on the entertainment industry, adding, "He touched so many people & his soul purpose was lifting people up to be the best they could be. And I am going to make that my purpose. I am going to continue to respect and cherish your legacy big bro."

Singleton is expected to be laid to rest in Los Angeles. A public event for fans to celebrate his life and legacy is tentatively scheduled for May 21. Keep reading to see Idris' full tribute to the filmmaker ahead.

I love my big brother. We would always compete to look the sexiest during photos. We called it the looking off to the distance smolder. Lol. You would always win. You would say never forget where you came from & that as long as your community rocked with you, you would always be good. I’d often say I was proud of you & you’d say “shut yo ass up, how you proud of me when I’m supposed to be proud of yo ass”. You would say I would one day be the greatest. And I believed it, because you said it. I lost my big brother today. The one person in this industry that gave me a shot. The person who is responsible for where I am today in my career & the direction I am going. He touched so many people & his soul purpose was lifting people up to be the best they could be. And I am going to make that my purpose. I am going to continue to respect and cherish your legacy big bro. Damn we never got to make that movie in Nigeria lol. It’s all good though, I’ll make it for us. I love my big bro. The talented. The legendary. The iconic. JOHN MOTHERF**KING SINGLETON. #johnsingleton
