The #FreeYNWMelly movement has gained a new supporter and one who likely will get everyone talking no less.

On Wednesday (May 1), the incarcerated rapper celebrated his 20th birthday, prompting his fans and supporters to both wish him well and call for his release from jail. Among the birthday greetings was one from none other than Future.

Taking to Twitter, the Atlanta heavyweight wished the Taurean rapper a happy birthday, as well as shared some kind words directed to "da kid."

"Free my lil brother Melly," Future says in his story. The post includes some overlaid text that gives a birthday shoutout to the rapper.

While it remains unknown how exactly Future is connected with Melly, the extra encouragement presumably will not go under-appreciated. As it stands, the rapper remains behind bars and is facing two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly shooting and killing his friends, Christopher "YNW Juvy" Thomas Jr. and Anthony "YNW Sakchaser" Williams. Police claim that the rapper and his associate, Cortlen "YNW Bortlen" Henry, staged the shooting to make it look like a drive-by.

Last month, it was revealed that state prosecutors in Florida are seeking the death penalty in the case. They claim they can prove "the murders was especially heinous, atrocious or cruel." Melly previously pleaded not guilty to the charges and remains incarcerated while awaiting trial.

In related news, a man claiming to be his father recently dropped a remix of his breakout song, "Murder On My Mind," during which he professes his son's innocence and makes his alleged identity known. While his mother has been vocal about the heartbreaking situation she and her son are going through, the new remix marked the first occasion someone has come forward claiming to be his biological father.

Additionally, Melly's team announced his new mixtape, titled Free M&M. The release coincided with his birthday this week. The project features guests such as Yung Bans, Tee Grizzley, Burga and more. The mixtape is available for streaming via MyMixtapez.
