On Thursday (April 11), the Staples Center, along with the rapper's loved ones, will host a "Celebration of Life" memorial service. While tickets to secure one's place at the memorial sold out in a matter of minutes, there reportedly will be an alternative way to pay homage to the Los Angeles native.
According to reports, the procession will span the entire 25-mile stretch making up South Los Angeles. The procession will be passing by a series of familiar landmarks, including his Marathon clothing store where he lost his life.
According to TMZ, family members of the late rapper and community leader wanted to make sure those wishing to participate in a final farewell would have the opportunity to do so, especially given that the Staples Center only seats 21,000 people and tickets are now unavailable.
It is expected the route will take an hour and a half to complete, and will conclude at a funeral home in the Crenshaw district. At the time of this report, it remains unclear if the memorial will feature any live music tributes or anything of the sort.
As the city prepares to pay its respects to Nipsey Hussle, artists such as YG, ScHoolboy Q, Machine Gun Kelly, Kash Doll, Alchemist, Conway and most recently, Jhené Aiko, have decided to postpone releasing their new music in the wake of the tragic loss.
