As the hip hop community continues to mourn the loss of Nipsey Hussle, his influence is being felt far beyond the borders of his hometown. In New York City, Dave East paid tribute to the late Los Angeles native, who was shot and killed on Sunday (March 31).

The Harlem rapper took to Instagram to invite fellow grieving fans to honor the life of his friend and collaborator, announcing the candlelit vigil will be held Monday night (April 1).

"If You In The NYC Area Come Show Cuzo Some Love This Was Really My Friend Fucc Rap!!!!!" Dave wrote, sharing a flyer with the downtown Manhattan address. "LOVE U CRIP."

The candlit vigil was attended by fans of all ages and all races, with members of the community in New York coming together to pay their respects to the fallen rapper, entrepreneur and philanthropist.

In a video recap of the event posted on Tuesday morning (April 2), Dave continued showing love to his friend. In July 2016, the pair came together on the collaborative track, "Clarity," as well as recently offered guest contributions on Bino Rideaux's 2017 track "Blueprint."

"Have One Rolled When I See U Cuz," he captioned the video. "Till Next Time NAYBAHOOD NIP..."

He also expressed how Nipsey would have worked to uphold his legacy if the tragic situation was the other way around, adding, "Nip Woulda Did The Same S--t For Me."

While Dave helped gather fans to pay homage in New York, fans on the West Coast were drawn to Nipsey's retail store, which was also the same location where the rapper was fatally shot. Unfortunately, the situation outside of the Marathon shop resulted in chaos.

As confirmed by the LAPD, a man brandished a weapon while fans were meeting to pay their respects, resulting in a scuffle and subsequent stampede. As previously reported, 19 people were injured at the Los Angeles vigil due to the chaos that ensued.

The investigation into Nipsey's murder continues and police have identified 29-year-old Eric Holder as an official suspect. Anyone with information is urged to call South Bureau Homicide Detectives at 323-786-5100.
