Rihanna, Soulja Boy and more react to Karl Lagerfeld's death

On Tuesday (Feb. 19), the passing of Karl Lagerfeld was confirmed by a variety of sources close to the iconic fashion designer.

Lagerfeld, who cultivated a world-renowned reputation through his work at Fendi, Chanel and his own self-titled brand; died at the age of 85 after fighting a brief illness. As the news of his death began to circulate on social media, a handful of celebrities and hip hop artists took a moment to reflect on his legendary contributions to the fashion industry across the globe.

Pharrell, who became the first man to star in a Chanel bag campaign in 2017, took to Twitter to simply write, "The goat sleeps."

Other artists such as Rihanna, Swizz Beatz and Mariah Carey shared a collection of photos posing with the legendary designer and celebrated his undeniable influence.

Ciara also commented on Lagerfeld's passing by reflecting on one of their past opportunities to work together.

"One of the coolest moments of my career was shooting my 1st high fashion shoot with you as the photographer," she shared on Twitter. "Every detail mattered to you. Thank you for the inspiration you've given us all. You will truly be missed. Rest In Peace Legend."

Fellow fashion industry peers such as Virgil Abloh and Naomi Campbell also reflected on Lagerfeld's passing by citing his influence on their creativity and careers alike.

"Karl .. too many memories to write," Naomi shared on Instagram. "I THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU !!! For taking the chance on 16 year old girl from South London and opening my eyes. May you Rest with the Highest."
