Young Thug's creative influence continues to transcend beyond hip hop. Next month, the rapper will make his mark at Art Basel in the form of a special collaborative exhibit.
As announced today (Nov. 13), Thugger has teamed up with Netherlands-based artist Hajar Benjida for a special installation titled "Young Thug As Paintings." The inspiration behind the new work began as a school project, during which the artist reimagined the Atlanta rapper as Renaissance paintings on Instagram.
"I jokingly answered an interview question with 'I hope to discuss Renaissance paintings with Thug someday,''" Benjida explained in a statement. "One and a half years later and I'm bringing my project to life together with Young Thug himself."
The event, which is co-sponsored by Young Stoner Life Records and 300 Entertainment, will be available for viewing exclusively at the SCOPE Art Fair and will run from Dec. 4 - Dec. 9.
"Young Thug is one of the most profound artists of this generation and we're going to continue to celebrate him in the most innovative ways," Rayna Bass, Head of Cultural Marketing at 300 Entertainment, shared in a statement. "Hajar Benjida's display of Thug's influence through art disruption is incredible. This is also a celebration of Hajar's talent and her appreciation of the culture."
Tickets to "Young Thug As Paintings" are available via SCOPE.
