With their powers combined, Beyoncé and Jay-Z continue to use their influence to make the world a better place.

Most recently, their collective starpower was on full display at the 2018 City of Hope Spirit of Life Gala in Santa Monica, Calif., during which the Carters helped raise more than $6 million dollars for the nonprofit cancer treatment and research center.

During City of Hope's annual event, which took place on Thursday (Oct. 11), Beyoncé took to the stage, performing songs including "Ava Maria" and "Halo," while Jay-Z helped celebrate Warner/Chappell Music Publishing CEO Jon Platt.

Platt, who Jay-Z referred to as the "Obama for the music industry," was the evening's honoree, receiving the Spirit of Life Award for his committed philanthropy efforts and his contributions to the music and entertainment industry.

"I can't think of anyone more deserving to be prized in front of their peers and in front of the world than my brother, Jon Platt, the artist formerly known as Big Jon," Jay-Z said during his introductory speech. "Denver DJ with a Jheri curl goes and he's the highest ranking black executive in any global company. He's the Obama of the music industry. And I'm just glad that everyone in this room gets to acknowledge and prize this man tonight for all his accomplishments. He's behind some of the biggest hits in the world and it couldn't happen to a finer person."

As reported by Forbes, the evening was quite the star-studded affair, with Dr. Dre, Tiffany Haddish, Usher, Quincy Jones, Bebe Rexha, Wiz Khalifa, Timbaland, Kelly Rowland and Rita Ora all in attendance to help support the non-profit's fundraising gala.

Jay-Z will continue his charitable fundraising efforts next week, with the fourth-annual TIDAL X concert set to takeover Brooklyn's Barclays Center and raise money for nonprofits dedicated to criminal justice reform. Lil Wayne, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Meek Mill, Anderson .Paak and others have been tapped to perform.
