The road to Lil Wayne's highly anticipated Tha Carter V album has been tumultuous, turbulent and unfortunately, still unyielding.

While fans have rejoiced in the confirmation that the legendary rapper and his longtime mentor and partner Birdman have made amends following a years-long legal battle (and an ugly one at that)—with Wayne receiving ownership of the Young Money imprint in the settlement process—fans have kept all eyes on the seemingly long lost magnum opus.

Somewhere out there in the Wild Wild Web, rumors began circulating that the prized and protected project would finally be seeing the light of day, with rumors leading to a release date of Friday (Sept. 21).

While the release date was not officially confirmed by Lil Wayne or his camp, an on-brand speculative pattern that has unfolded throughout his decades-long career, fans were really joining forces to manifest that the rumors would prove true.

Unfortunately, midnight has come and gone, and the releases scheduled for today have hit circulating streaming services and Tha Carter V is nowhere in sight.

The project, which was originally slated for a 2013 release, was announced in tandem with the Grammy Award-winning rapper sharing that it would also double as his final before he enters retirement.

Regardless of whether or not Weezy hangs up the mic or not after the fact, as result of the settlement, when Tha Carter V will mark his first album released outside of his longtime former label home of Cash Money.

See how fans are reacting to the rumors Tha Carter V would be arriving this weekend ended up being false, below.
