The rapper was released from a Pennsylvania prison last week, following a long legal battle — involving a controversial case judge, an arresting officer investigated for corruption, several requests for new trials and bail releases, and other issues.

"I'm grateful for this unique opportunity to share my story and I look forward to collaborating with Amazon Prime Video, Roc Nation and the Intellectual Property Corporation on this incredible series," Meek Mill said in a statement. "Not only will this documentary give viewers an unprecedented look at my life, but it will also allow me to use my public platform to highlight the need for criminal justice reform.

The untitled series is expected to premiere in 2019 with executive production handled by JAY-Z and Roc Nation, along with Intellectual Property Corp.'s Eli Holzman and Aaron Saidman, investigative journalist Paul Solotaroff and documentary filmmaker Isaac Solotaroff.

The news arrives as Meek recently earned a Gold certification from the RIAA for his 2017 album Wins & Losses. The album, which spawned the singles "Young Black America," "Whatever You Need," and "1942 Flows," has officially sold over 500,000 copies.
