Cardi B is hours away from performing at Coachella, making the breaking news of her first studio album debuting at the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 that much sweeter.
The Bronx rapper's album, which has already been certified Gold by the RIAA, marks the second-biggest opening week of 2018, just behind Justin Timberlake's Man of the Woods project.
Additionally, per Billboard, Cardi's official debut onto the charts also signifies the highest sales week for a hip-hop or R&B album in 2018. Not only that but other accolades include garnering the largest streaming week ever for an album by a woman (breaking a record previously held by Taylor Swift), the biggest streaming week for a debut studio album (breaking a record previously held by Lil Uzi Vert's Luv is Rage 2) and also becoming the fifth female rapper to top the Billboard 200 albums chart (joining the likes of Nicki Minaj, Eve, Foxy Brown and Lauryn Hill).
Cardi B's Coachella set is slated for later tonight at 7:25PM PT / 10:25PM ET (a revision from the initial schedule). She's admitted she's spending upwards of $300,000 out of pocket on the performance, further adding to the anticipation of what she'll deliver.
