Cardi B had big plans for the third single for her debut album Invasion of Privacy, but she had to get the approval from a previous legendary woman MC first: Ms. Lauryn Hill.

"Be Careful," produced by Boi-1da, Frank Dukes and Vinylz, samples Hill's classic award-winning single "Ex-Factor." The song, which she said she wanted to sound like "an open letter," is a song that warns a lover about her intolerance of his infidelity.

In Cardi's interview with The Breakfast Club on Tuesday (April 10), she revealed that while the song got some negative backlash, that she was most proud of getting the cosign by the Fugees legend.

"A lot of people was criticizing me when it came to the 'Be Careful' record. Then I said, wait a minute - it don’t matter what these people say, Lauryn Hill approved this song," Cardi told Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee. "If she didn’t approve it, I would have to change so much from it."

Getting the approval was extra special, Cardi said, because she heard that Lauryn is very particular about where she allows her music to be used. Still, she approved the song, and sent a message to Cardi B.

"I heard she’s very spiritual when it comes to [approving samples], and she approved it," Cardi said. "It made me feel super confident at the time."
