Solange Knowles named Harvard Foundation’s 2018 Artist Of The Year

Solange Knowles has been named as the recipient of the 2018 Harvard Foundation Artist of the Year award.

Each year, the distinction is voted on by students and faculty of the Harvard Foundation for Intercultural and Race Relations, with the award honoring those who work to "improve relations among racial and ethnic groups within the University and to enhance the quality of our common life."

Past recipients of the prestigious honor include Salma Hayek, Eva Longoria, John Legend, Queen Latifah and Viola Davis, among others.

Knowles will be honored on March 3rd during the foundation's annual Cultural Rhythms Festival. The event will also feature "student performances and ethno-cultural cuisine from over 30 student organizations."

The Seat at the Table artist has consistently used her platform as a musician and activist to encourage and empower others, as well as to call out instances of cultural appropriation, racial discrimination, white supremacy, inequality and social injustice..

Last year, the Grammy Award-winner was named as one of Glamour Magazine's Women of the Year, as well earned the American Impact Award at the 2017 Billboard Women in Music Awards.
