JAY-Z took a trip to Miami this weekend to attend a peace rally organized in memory of the late Trayvon Martin, who would have celebrated his 23rd birthday earlier this week.

As reported by a variety of local news outlets, the music mogul joined Martin's parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, onstage earlier Saturday afternoon (Feb. 10) to help participate in the sixth annual Peace Walk and Peace Talk, which took place at the Betty T. Ferguson Recreational Complex in Miami Gardens.

JAY-Z, who is currently producing a documentary about the tragically slain teen titled Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, addressed the crowd, speaking on Trayvon's story and the undeniable impact his unjust murder has had on communities of color and the Black Lives Matter movement across the nation.

"Trayvon serves as a beacon of light to all the people out here so you guys would never have to go through the pain and the hurt these guys went through. His name will sit alongside some of the greats whom lost their life to push our culture forward," JAY-Z said during his commentary. "The Martin Luther Kings, the Ghandis, that's the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope and push us in a better direction."

As previously announced, the docu-series highlighting the life of Trayvon Martin and what happened after his killer, George Zimmerman, was acquitted of all charges, is a six-part program set to premiere on the Paramount Network.
