Justin Timberlake is busy preparing for his Super Bowl halftime show, which is set to take place tomorrow (Feb 4).
While he celebrated the release of his new album, Man of the Woods, of which he hosted a listening party at Prince's iconic Paisley Park compound, the singer is reportedly paying homage to the Purple One in a different way for his highly publicized and anticipated performance.
Per TMZ, JT's halftime show will feature a hologram of Prince.
Fans, naturally, are taking the rumor at face value, taking to Twitter to react to how this move could likely go horribly awry, with some pointing out that Prince wasn't even a fan of the former boy band singer and that Timberlake has taken disrespectful shots at the late legend in the past. Some are even calling for the halftime producers to step in and intervene prior to imminent disaster striking.

Justin Timberlake is supposedly bringing a hologram Prince to his Super Bowl performance. Bruh, I hope that lawsuit is swift and merciless. Prince didn't even like his ass...— LeValkyrie (@LeValkyrie) February 3, 2018
Prince will appear as a hologram at the #SuperBowl halftime show to really drive home the fact Justin Timberlake is a hollow imitation.— John Elrod II (@LOTNorm) February 3, 2018
God, please let Prince’s hologram become sentient and let it insult Justin Timberlake’s mediocre dancing and music and order him off the stage like he did to Kim Kardashian in New York when he was living.— Megan Giddings (@megiddings) February 3, 2018
Dear Justin Timberlake and Superbowl people. If you're really planning on a Prince hologram you need to cancel that terrible idea right now.— Casey Rain | S-Endz | The Neosoulja (@CaseyRain) February 3, 2018
If you want to play some old video footage that's one thing.

So many "a thread" tweets after Justin Timberlake brings out that prince hologram... This is all somehow Bruno Mars fault— Slevin Kelevra 🇺🇸 (@ToeKnee2GX) February 3, 2018
Didn't Justin Timberlake mock Prince before??? Look i'm not here for this culture vulture using our icons whenever he feels its necessary. Stand on your own merits Justin. No need for the fake ish.— retta1938 (@rettaschild123) February 3, 2018
This idea of Justin Timberlake using Prince's hologram during his halftime show sounds like a Black Mirror ep with an internationally televised twist. And it would not be pretty. pic.twitter.com/Ue2xLna7mB— Tananarive Due (@TananariveDue) February 3, 2018
Does Minnesota really want a Prince hologram at the Super Bowl? With Justin Timberlake? pic.twitter.com/wRGb5uYQYM— Yvonne A. Gor (@YvonneGor) February 3, 2018
In other words, the ghost of Prince will be upstaging Justin Timberlake during the Super Bowl Half Time Show. I heard a hologram Woody Allen will also be coming onstage to write him a check. #JustinTimberlake #prince #SuperBowlHalftime— Linny (@LinnyEmG) February 3, 2018
I'll never forget that time Justin Timberlake mocked Prince's height at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards. A lot of people may not remember, but Prince didn't even like Justin. Justin even dissed Prince on Timbaland's song "Give it To Me". #SuperBowl pic.twitter.com/gjLpiorCA6— NUFF (@nuffsaidNY) February 3, 2018
Justin Timberlake covering Prince at the Super Bowl is gonna feel like Adam Sandler starring in a Forrest Gump remake— Sterling Bigmouth (@el_pelirrojo_) February 3, 2018
