Kendrick Lamar is off to a running start of Barry Allen proportions at this year's Grammy Awards. He commenced the show with one of greatest opening performances we've seen in its 60 years with a little help from U2, Dave Chappelle (who ever saw someone do skits in the middle of their performance?) and army's worth of soldiers. K. Dot has also won five awards (Best Rap Album, Best Rap Song, Best Music Video, Best Rap Performance, and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration), is up for two more, and got to give a speech with Rihanna.

Another one of Kendrick's classic LP Damn's collaborators will be watching closely tonight. Kid Capri says in the aftermath of hearing the LP in its entirety after it went on sale in the spring of last year, he would send the Compton King positive messages.

"After we did the album, I used to send him these prayers from different people," Kid said while visiting the New York City REVOLT offices. "The reason I would send him these prayers because after I listened to the whole album I started realizing it was a spiritual album. It was about God, being humble. Living your life good and being focused on everything that's around you. When I started hearing the album I started sending him these prayers and he'd be like 'Kid, you don't even know what this did for my day.' It just motivates him for his whole day to go on."

Kendrick's stiffest competition for Damn. in Best Rap Album and Album of the Year is JAY-Z's heavily impactful 4:44 LP.

"Those are two great albums man," Capri said. "What are you gonna do? The fact I was on that [Damn] album and received what I received from it. That's enough for me. It's still a great project. I was Part of it and it was so many people he could have got to be apart of it, that's great for me.

"I was on five joints on the album and ironically my real name is David Anthony love," Capri said about being featured on Damn's current single "Love." I also have a record with LL Called 'My Name Is Love.' The love things is poppin right now."
