As reported, the project, which was released on Dec. 15, has officially debuted in the No. 1 slot on the Billboard 200 chart for the week ending on Dec. 21.
Impressively, the feat is also a historic one, with Eminem becoming the first-ever artist to have eight consecutive chart entries debut at the coveted No. 1 slot.
Per Billboard, Em's latest landed atop the albums chart with 267,000 equivalent album units, of which 197,000 were traditional album sales. The fact that Eminem's album was unfortunately leaked two days ahead of schedule could possibly have impacted his first week numbers as well.
Although the numbers are still impressive, Eminem's 2013 album, The Marshall Mathers LP 2, sold 792,000 copies its first week. As an aside, streaming and non-traditional album sales weren't factored into the tally process until the end of 2014.
As pointed out by XXL, Revival joins Kendrick Lamar's DAMN. and Drake's More Life playlist, with these projects making for the top three largest first week sales in 2017.
