Thanksgiving is here and, as is custom, it's time we count our blessings. Time flies and headlines have been made, so before we fill our plates and bellies tomorrow and enjoy our family and friends, let's take a look back at the 10 music and culture moments we're most thankful for this year.

Glover kicked off 2017 by winning the Golden Globe for Best Comedy Series for Atlanta. During his speech, the actor-writer-musician gave what would be perceived as an odd nod to Migos and their hit "Bad and Boujee."

Chance the Rapper making history at the Grammys

In February of this year, Chance the Rapper won his first ever Grammy award for Best Rap Performance for "No Problem." Later that evening, he took home the prestigious awards for Best New Artist and Best Rap Album for his mixtape Coloring Book.

The Compton MC dropped his third studio album DAMN. in April of this year. The album's lead single "HUMBLE." debuted at No. 2 and later peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

It's been 21 years since JAY-Z released his debut album Reasonable Doubt. Since then, he's become one of the most influential men in the world, and in June of this year, Jay surprised fans with his thirteenth effort 4:44. This project was a body of work that delved deep into who Shawn Carter really is.

Girls Trip making history

Girls Trip, the breakout summer comedy, surpassed the $100 million mark, making it the first film starring, written by, directed by, and produced by African-Americans.

In her rise from the Bronx to the Billboard charts, Cardi B has become the first woman rapper to score a No. 1 with "Bodak Yellow" since Lauryn Hill in nearly two decades. The former stripper-turned-rapper charmed her way into our hearts as a cast member of Love and Hip Hop: New York with her funny personality and antics on social media.

"This is the calm before the storm." Those were the words Em used to mock Donald Trump before unleashing his cypher at this year's BET Hip-Hop Awards. For nearly five minutes, the Detroit MC took aim at the Commander In Chief, systemic racism, and his support for NFL player Colin Kaepernick.
