Charlie Murphy had his final curtain call last night in New Jersey. The comedic legend’s funeral took place with a slew of his fellow funnyman familia attending.
Dave Chappelle, Donnell Rawlings, Eddie Griffin, George Lopez, Cedric The Entertainer, D.L. Hughley, Affion Crockett, and Neil Brennan all posed together for a few pictures that were posted on a their various social media accounts. They incorporated humor and love in their words.
RIP Charlie Murphy. First stuff I ever officially directed were the Rick James and Prince stories. Dude changed my life. One of the most unique people I've ever met. So funny. So weird. I truly don't think anyone had ever used the term "Habitual Line-Stepper" before Charlie said it that day. Unforgettable dude. Really sad. (Bottom right is Charlie and Rick James from early 80s)
Charlie Murphy’s uncle Ray Murphy Jr. posted a picture of the funeral program on his IG page early this morning, as well.
Murphy passed away last week from leukemia and, according to reports, was undergoing chemotherapy.
Murphy’s family issued a statement to the press in the wake of Charlie’s death saying, “Charlie filled our family with love and laughter and there won’t be a day that goes by that his presence will not be missed. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and prayers. We respectfully ask for privacy during this time of great loss for all of us.”
