With only two months until her sophomore album Melodrama is released, Lorde used her set at Coachella on Sunday (April 16) to tease fans of its material.

Before performing the never-before-heard "Homemade Dynamite," Lorde explained the concept behind the upcoming LP, detailing that it was inspired by the dichotomous nature of a good night out gone wrong. She said:

"It's a record about all of the ups and downs of being 20-something and, specifically, all of the ups and downs of an evening. So, I spent a lot of time going out--as you do--and I was struck by all of the facets of an evening, whether it's the moment where you're with all your friends and it's sick. Everyone's there, even that person who usually leaves, they're still there. Maybe the drugs are just kicking in, I don't know. But it's good. And then a half an hour later, you can be in the bathroom, like, 'Oh my God, I look like a crime scene. This is insane.' And it's the dichotomy of those two things that I'm very interested in."

She then told the audience that "Homemade Dynamite," the previously unheard track, "sits in that first category, when everything is good."

Under a red light and a cage full of dancers, Lorde launched into the thump-heavy track, delivering a double-time speed on the pre-chorus:

"So let's let things come out of the woodwork / I'll give you my best side, tell you all my best lies / Seeing me rolling, showing someone else love /Hands under your t-shirt / Know I think you're awesome, right?"

Just two days earlier, just 50 miles from the festival grounds in Indio, Lorde also debuted another track during a surprise concert at Pappy & Harriet's bar in Pioneertown, CA.

Another percussive-driven track, "Sober" utilized horns on the chorus as the singer detailed a relationship run by vices and jealousy.

"Their bodies all through my house / I know this story by heart / Jack and Jill got f--ked up and possessive / When we get down / But my hips have missed your hips / So let's get to know the kicks / Will you sway with me? / Go astray with me?"

Back at the Coachella stage though, before performing the Melodrama promotional single "Liability," Lorde said that the track reminded her of another. She then, while sitting at the edge of the stage, began singing the chorus to Kanye West's "Runaway." Citing their similarities, she said, "[That] just happens to work completely with those chords."

The feelings between the two artists is likely mutual as back in 2014, Kanye deemed her Hunger Games soundtrack contribution "Yellow Flicker Beat" worthy of a rework.

The recently-performed songs follow Melodrama's lead single "Green Light." The album is due June 16.
