Ryan Lochte, arguably the most popular Team USA swimmer after Michael Phelps, lied about being assaulted in Rio during the 2016 Olympics. In an elaborate story, Lochte said he and three teammates were robbed at gunpoint when their taxi was pulled over by thieves impersonating police officers. That turned out to be untrue, but this was only discovered after Lochte was safely back in the U.S. His teammates, meanwhile, were pulled off their plane and detained by police in Brazil.
This, of course, is an opportunity for social media to do what it does best: take clowns to task for their stupid behavior. Here's the best of the reactions to Lochte's big fat fabrication.
The Poster Children of the #Rio2016 Olympics. Gonna be interesting to see what happens with this White Privilege at its finest outcome. The saddest part about this story of lies deceit arrogance and ego is that these boys blamed the robbery on a brown person destroyed property left Rio and will probably apologize in a press conference pay a fine and maybe get banned from ever competing. Folk disrespecting the black athletes for their hair not be combed and bad attitudes and their skin color. Right is Right Wrong is Wrong there are consequences to your actions. #tablesalwaysturning #lochtegate
