Lyor Cohen says Young Thug is now "No My Name is Jeffery"

Goodbye Young Thug, hello No My Name Is Jeffery.

According to 300 Entertainment head honcho Lyor Cohen, the "Best Friend" rapper will soon be referred to as the artist formerly known as Young Thug. In a recent interview on the _Rap Radar _podcast, Cohen said, "Young Thug is not going to be Young Thug anymore." Furthermore, the mogul revealed, "His new name is going to be No My Name is Jeffery."

"The reality is, when you see this commercial, you're all going to understand what we do here at 300. Because it's powerful images of what makes someone Young Thug and what the evolution and how someone is Jeffery," he continued. "It's a circular thing, it's important. No, My Name is Jeffery is on its way. Please respect us to actually segue and utilize his name going forward because it's important."

Interestingly enough, in a February 2015 interview for GQ, Thug, excuse us, Jeffery shared the possibility of a future name change after being asked about one day dropping the "Young" from his alias. "I don’t think I’m gonna drop it, 'cause I want to be forever young," he said, before later adding, “My little niece always calls me Jeff the Rapper, so I might change it to that.”

The news comes just as the rapper preps his anticipated project Jeffery, which was said to be pushed back to August 26, however Thug continues to push the original August 16 date.
