Guwop is a changed man.
After his release from prison in May, which coincided with the release of his comeback single “First Day Out tha Feds,” Gucci Mane surprised fans with his new physique. During his time away, the rapper dumped a reported 50 pounds thanks to a no-carb diet and strict workout regimen. Of course the new look led many down that wacky “Gucci Clone” conspiracy, but on a more serious note, it also marked a much-needed, new beginning for the rapper.
“I was drinking pints of lean a week and smoking pounds of weed and just doing all kinds of drugs,” he told REVOLT. “The whole way I was handling myself before I went to jail was just so negative [and] it showed in my body.”
According to the “Lemonade” rapper, the turning point arrived during his infamous September 2013 arrest. “The day that I got arrested and stopped doing drugs, eventually it started to dawn on me that [I] had to start taking better care of myself before I [wind] up back in the same situation,” he said. “Getting all those substances out my body made me able to realize that listen, you got to work out, you got to eat better.”

But now that he’s been fresh out the feds for what has been almost two months now, Gucci, equipped with a newfound perspective, feels like none of those clouds can once again come his way. “You gotta be conscious,” he said. “Be more self-aware of what you’re doing.”
