The Game leads peaceful L.A. protest in wake of shootings

 // Jul 8, 2016

Following the shooting deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile and five Dallas police officers this week, celebrities are paying tribute, asking for action and demanding change in a number of ways: Jay Z, Miguel, and Solange through song; Drake through an open letter, Beyoncé through a minute of silence, and many through fervent postings on social media.

The Game has taken it a step further by announcing on Instagram that he'd be leading a protest through the streets of Los Angeles this morning (July 8) with the goal of landing at the LAPD headquarters. Beginning from the Westlake neighborhood, it would be a 1.5-mile walk.

Named Operation H.U.N.T. (an acronym for both Hate Us Not Today and Hunt Us Not Today), The Game asked that only men of "all gangs, all races" attend and that they not arrive armed, "high or belligerent." He shared that his objective was to "make the Californian government & it's law branches aware that from today forward, we will be UNIFIED as minorities & we will no longer allow them to hunt us or be hunted by us !!!"

REVOLT TV was on the scene at H.U.N.T. where the Game talked about previously being passive in his advocacy and his new desire for unity.

"...Here we are. Dead policemen again, dead men that will never get to go back to their families again, families that'll never be able to hold their dads again, just broken families. And so I did all that, I marched, I protested, I screamed it out, I hashtagged; it's not really working for me. And so, I'm here to unify as many people as I can for peaceful march or protest, whatever they wanna call it. I'm not calling it that. I'm just calling it a united front, the first step in uniting us as a human race."
