Dev Hynes' third album as Blood Orange, Freetown Sound, wasn't supposed to be released until July 1, but late last night (June 27) the singer-producer surprised fans by dropping the effort three days ahead of schedule.

Though Hynes wrote and composed every song, he sent a series of tweets revealing his collaborators and, among others, the album features Nelly Furtado, Carly Rae Jepsen, Debbie Harry (lead singer of Blondie), author Ta-Nehisi Coates, Zuri Marley (granddaughter of, yes, that Bob), quotes from Vince Staples, and additional vocals from Angela Davis.

Hynes coupled the good news with the release of his self-directed video for "Augustine," too.

The clip follows Hynes around his home of New York City, playing instruments in an empty apartment, eating at SoHo's Jamaican spot Miss Lily's (his "favorite restaurant in NYC") with the Strokes' Julian Casablancas, and dancing everywhere—with friends on rooftops, lazily voguing on park steps, and alone in front of a hand-painted flag of Sierra Leone (which is where his dad hails from and where the album got its title as Freetown is the country's capital.)

Three weeks ago, Dev Hynes teased the album with an Instagram post that read: "My album is for everyone told they're not BLACK enough, too BLACK, too QUEER, not QUEER the right way, the under appreciated, it's a CLAPBACK."
