A$AP Rocky For Dior Homme: The Connect

Way back in 2011, when A$AP Rocky signed a $3 million record deal with Sony, people were surprised. But as time progressed, it became clear that the move was a well thought-out investment. He offered unique music and eye-catching visuals, inspired by his own creativity, and to top it all off, boasted a highbrow fashion sense. He was the complete package, without the need for artist development.

And brands are very aware of the power of pop culture and its leaders so, with Dior Homme choosing A$AP as the new face of their FW16 campaign, how could both figures not win?

He's been trailblazing with his own style since the very beginning of his career. From the infectious "Purple Swag" video that initially caught our attention to his noncomformative outfit choices, Flacko has been fresh in every sense for some time now.

Prior to Rocky's presence, the hip-hop consumer was engulfed in streetwear while the more mature listener may have dabbled in a few luxury items. Admittedly, Rocky credited his own newly-developed swag to hanging out in New York's neighborhoods of Soho and Harlem, watching the most fashionable of people pass by, taking mental notes (and a few of his checks) and placing them right in his closet. He's told stories of always loving nice things which, if you're into astrology, falls right in line with Libras' personalities, so we'll argue that this has always been Pretty Flacko's way of life and there is no letting up.

Filling the very large shoes of those that have come before him, Rocky has influenced consumers to return to the aspirational lifestyle that we awe at in videos. (Peep his recently unveiled collection with J.W.Anderson.) His self-awareness and ability to influence culture has put him on the path to becoming one of the most iconic millennials and we hope to see a high-end line for us, created by Rocky himself, that will solidify his status as one of the few Black fashion Gods in the small clique that currently exists.
