NEW YORK, NY—Gunshots erupted at a Tip show in Manhattan Wednesday night (May 25), where the rapper was scheduled to appear at Irving Plaza.

Before the rapper was able to take the stage, between DJ's swapping out equipment, shots rang out in the V.I.P. section on the second floor and drove the capacity audience to fearfully scatter, with some fleeing and others ducking under tables or couches for cover. As the crowd—which included Maino, Uncle Murda, Anderson .Paak, Scram Jones and more—rushed to exit, an additional series of gunshots were heard causing a panic. According to reports, three people were injured, including Troy Ave, and one man died.

Maggie Heckstall, 26, was hit in the leg and REVOLT sources saw her being carried out of the venue by a group of men and Ronald McPhatter, an affiliate of Troy Ave, was shot in the chest around 10:00 p.m. Police and multiple ambulances arrived on the scene and paramedics were scene administering C.P.R. on McPhatter, 33, who was later pronounced dead.

Video from inside and outside the venue quickly hit social media, showing the crowd scattering after the shots rang out.

NYPD combed outside the Union Square venue for bullet shells and questioned the crowd for videos sources while they cordoned off the area in the aftermath.

As of press time, no motive or suspects have been identified.
