It's no secret that BJ the Chicago Kid has found inspiration in Marvin Gaye; his "Turnin’ Me Up" music video is an ode to the late legend's recording process, his "Good Luv'n" track borrows lyrics from Gaye's "Let’s Get It On" hit and, earlier this year, BJ released his first major-label LP, In My Mind, on Motown Records, where Gaye served as one of its most consistent hitmakers.

Now, BJ will honor Gaye again posthumously with a duet on a revamped version of "What's Going On." The classic tune celebrates its 45th anniversary this year and will be re-released as a 10-inch vinyl EP.

One side of the record will feature the original versions of the title track and "God Is Love," while the other side will include two more renditions of "What’s Going On"—BJ's, and an unplugged "coffeehouse mix."

In a press release, BJ said "Marvin Gaye is a huge inspiration to me. The music he graced us with gave the world a little more beauty, and a lot more soul."

The EP will be released June 24, and you can buy it here.
