Beyoncé Makes History With Sixth No. 1 Album, ‘Lemonade’

Beyoncé is now the first artist to score six consecutive No. 1 albums as Lemonade, the singer’s latest studio effort, snags the top spot on the Billboard 200.

According to Billboard, Bey’s much-talked-about release earned 653,000 units in its first-week of release, making it the best-selling album of the year so far. Of that sum, 485,000 were pure album sales. The 12-song visual album arrived on April 23 following its world premiere on HBO. Physical copies of the Lemonade is set to arrive Friday (May 6).

All six of Bey's studios have debuted at the top of the album chart, from 2003's Dangerously In Love to 2013's Beyoncé, and now her latest.

Elsewhere in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart, Prince continues to rule with five albums. Last week's number one, The Very Best of Prince, drops to No. 2 with 391,000 copies. The 1984 monster Purple Rain appears at No. 3 with 150,000 units. Two other Prince greatest hits, The Hits/The B-Sides and Ultimate, experiences climbs at No. 4 and No. 6 respectively. The latter is now Prince's 19th top 10 album. In between Prince's greatest hits on the chart is Rihanna's Anti at No. 5.

Meanwhile, A$AP Ferg earns his second-highest debut on the album chart with Always Strive And Prosper, which sits at No. 8 with 35,000 sold. Rounding out the top 10 is Justin Bieber's Purpose with 31,000 units.
