Days before his death, Prince was reportedly treated for an overdose.

According to TMZ, Prince overdosed on Percocet, which he was reportedly using to treat a hip problem tied to a corrective surgery in 2010.

Prince’s private jet made an emergency landing last Friday (April 15) in Moline, Illinois due to a medical emergency that his reps told reporters was a result of the singer battling a flu. However, per the new report, Prince was given a “save shot” at a hospital to “counteract the effects of an opiate.”

Prince’s entourage told responders he had taken the painkiller after his Atlanta concert prior to the emergency landing. According to the report, he left the hospital hours later over objections from hospital staff, who wanted him to stay for at least 24 hours.

This latest update arrives as the medical examiner investigating Prince's death is set to conduct an autopsy on the singer's body today (April 22).

In related news, a rainbow stretched over Prince's Paisley Park estate on Thursday (April 21), hours after the news of his passing.
