The legal proceedings between former couple Future and Ciara continues to get ugly.

As the latest update in the legal drama, TMZ, citing The Jasmine Brand, reports that Future has responded to Ciara's recently filed $15 million defamation lawsuit with a counter. According to the report, Future has filed a countersuit and claims that he can't defame the singer because she has no career. The "Commas" rapper is cited as stating while Ciara has a "reasonably large" fan base, her last album Jackie was a "flop."

The former couple has been all over headlines following their 2014 split. In January , Ciara filed a $15 million lawsuit against Future, claiming recent interviews and tweets as a cause for defaming her rep. Earlier this week, the singer popped up in headlines after she refrained from mentioning Future's name while announcing the 2016 Billboard Music Award nominations on ABC's "Good Morning America."
