SoundCloud has joined the fray by launching their official subscription service today (March 29), SoundCloud Go.
The move follows the company's efforts to sign deals with major labels, which now, for a price of $9.99 a month allow users to listen to tracks by superstars and still include popular DJ mixes that made the service popular in the first place. (It also permits listeners to avoid commercials, a new experience in the SoundCloud world.)
“When you step into SoundCloud, it’s much more like stepping into a cafe or a club, where there’s people and there’s a humanness around the music,” SoundCloud CEO and founder Alex Ljung, told TheWrap. “Most other services, you open them up, and it’s like you’re in store.”
In addition, Go subscription features include listening offline capabilities.
