Essence Festival 2016 To Host Kendrick Lamar, Mariah Carey And MaxwellJune 30 to July 3 in New Orleans.

Festival season is officially underway. With only four months out from this year’s Essence Festival in New Orleans, more than 30 of today’s hottest R&B and hip-hop artists have been confirmed for weekend line-up.

Kendrick Lamar will return as a headlining act, along with Mariah Carey, Ciara, and Maxwell at the top of the bill. The festival, which features performances, panel discussions, cultural conversations and workshops for four days, will return June 30 to July 3.

Also on the lineup are New Edition, Babyface, Charlie Wilson, Faith Evans, Leon Bridges, Jeremih, Lion Babe, Dej Loaf, The Internet, BJ The Chicago Kid, Cyril Neville, Daley, Digable Planets, Doug E. Fresh, Eric Bellinger, Estelle, Jidenna, Judith Hill, Kelly Price, Lady Leshurr, Lala Hathaway, Little Simz, Mali Music, MC Lyte, Tyrese, The Brand New Heavies, Preservation Hall Brass Band, the New Breed Brass Band, Tink and V. Bozeman.

This year’s festival will also debut its World Music Superlounge, an addition to the event focused on music from around the world. The stage will highlight Zakes Bantwini and Skye Wanda from Durban, South Africa, where Essence Fest recently announced an expansion of its events.
