J. Cole kicked off his “Off-Season Tour” Friday (Sept. 24) inside of FTX Arena in downtown Miami. Fans in attendance not only got to see the opening acts — 21 Savage and Morray — perform, but they also were privileged to see Future hit the stage, and Drake and Cole share a special moment.
After Cole performed tracks such as “95 South,” “100 Mil,” “Let My Hand Go,” and “Pride Is The Devil,” among other hits, and songs from his Off-Season album, Fayettville’s finest brought out 21 Savage to perform their Grammy award winning track “A Lot” and their new joint “My Life.”
According to Miami New Times, just when the crowd thought the show was over, J. Cole returned with Drake — who rapped to “Laugh Now, Cry Later,” brought out 21 Savage to perform “Knife Talk” and Future for “Way 2 Sexy.” Drizzy also stayed onstage for a “heartfelt moment” with Cole, regarding the “Heaven’s EP” track Cole released this week.
Fans caught footage of Drake saying, “You know, you did that ‘Pipe Down’ freestyle the other day, right? You was saying in that freestyle that they handed you the bronze, whatever… Me and Kendrick. I just want you to understand something; You are genuinely, without a doubt, one of the greatest rappers to ever touch a mic. I just want to let you know; There’s way too many people in the world that think and know that J. Cole is in that top totem pole position.”
“You’re my brother. I love you,” he added. “You’re one of my favorite artists and I always appreciate you.” The lyric, that Drizzy’s referring to, is signature Cole delivering an introspective bar about his standing in the rap game. “Some people say that I’m running third, they threw the bronze at me/ Behind Drake and Dot, yeah, them niggas is superstars to me/“ Cole raps over Drake’s “Pipe Down” beat.
The “Off-Season Tour” continues tonight (Sept. 25) at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. Check out the concert footage from Miami below:
