Kodak Black received a certificate of recognition Saturday (Sept. 18) from the City of Margate for his hefty donation to the child of a South Florida police officer who died from COVID-19 complications, NBC Miami reports.

According to the outlet, Kodak was recognized and applauded for his $20,000 gift to officer Jennifer Sepot’s daughter and the children of two FBI agents who were killed in Sunrise, Florida. The announcement that the money will be used as a college fund for the agent’s kids, was made by Margate board member Arlene R. Schwartz during the grand opening of the city’s new sporting complex.

“On behalf of the city, I have a certificate of recognition to Kodak Black as a thank you for the wonderful action you took to help a child who’s just lost a parent have a college fund and a secure future,” Schwartz said.

As Kodak accepted the certificate and praise, he used the moment to reflect on his pregnant girlfriend and the loss of his friend and Sniper Gang artist WizDaWizard — who was found dead in Hallandale Beach, Florida on Friday (Sept. 17).

“My beautiful girlfriend, she’s expecting my daughter soon in a few months so I put myself like, ‘Man, that’s crazy. That could be anybody,’” Kodak said. “And I just lost a friend, a very close friend. We’ve been friends like over 10 years and I lost him yesterday. He got a beautiful baby girl too. It’s crazy dealing with losing loved ones and stuff like that, it’s hard. I’ve been dealing with loss my whole life. My cousin funeral was yesterday, too.”

“It’s crazy everybody put up and deal with stuff in different ways, even though at the end of the day, we all we got. It ain’t got nothing to do with politics, white or Black, rich or poor. We all we got,” he continued. As REVOLT previously reported, deputies from Broward Sheriff’s Office are assisting Hallandale Beach agents as they investigate the death of WizDaWizard.
