T.I. has entered the Diddy versus Jermaine Dupri conversation — and he wants people to stop sleeping on Atlanta artists.
Following the epic Verzuz battle between Ja Rule and Fat Joe on Tuesday night (Sept. 14), JD took to Twitter to call the REVOLT chairman out. “Somebody let Diddy know I’m [at the Madison Square Garden] right now!” the So So Def CEO tweeted. “And he gon need some training for me.”
Diddy quickly caught wind of JD’s challenge and responded to his message. “Beloved you my nigga but your arms too short to box with God!!!” the Bad Boy Records CEO wrote.
“You ain’t got enough hits,” he added. “I’ll smash you with just Biggie n Mary [J. Blige]. But I do have the upmost [sic] respect on you as a musical legend.”
After seeing Diddy’s response to JD, T.I. uploaded a 28-minute video to Instagram expressing his thoughts about the potential matchup. “So, when it gets down to the Verzuz conversation about Puff and JD, or me and 50 [Cent], that shit just hit different. It’s like, ‘Oh, okay what you think nigga? What you trying to say?’” the “Whatever You Like” rapper said. “You saying just cause you from New York? Come on man… Then, for the motherfuckers saying, ‘You can’t see him, you’re not on his level.’ Why? Cause you say so? What have you done? Who made you the judge and the jury, the end all be all?”
He added, “But to say you can’t even compete? Bro, there’s 12 months in a year. If you had six months, he had six months too.”
As for now, Diddy only wants to go up against Dr. Dre. However, fans on social media believe JD could be a worthy opponent by pointing out his lengthy catalog, which includes hits by Usher, Mariah Carey, TLC, Xscape, Bow Wow and more.
