NeNe Leakes posted that she’s “broken” hours after revealing that her husband, Gregg Leakes, is “transitioning to the other side.” The “Real Housewives of Atlanta” star took to Instagram on Sunday (Aug. 29) to share the somber update, which included the word “Broken,” a prayer hands emoji and a broken heart.
As reported by REVOLT, Nene tragically revealed this weekend that Gregg’s condition has worsened since being diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer in 2018. The 67-year-old went into remission for two years, but his cancer reportedly returned just months ago.
NeNe announced the sad news to guests at her Linnethia Lounge in Duluth, Georgia on Saturday night (Aug. 28).
“… I’m asking everybody in this lounge — I had no idea that I was going to walk in here and grab this microphone and make this announcement but I want to say this… I want to be at peace,” she said in a video that was shared on Twitter. “When you see me and you see my son, give us a lot of love, okay? My husband is transitioning to the other side… You don’t know what we’re dealing with right now.”
“This is our business, so when people approach us and say, ‘You’re rude because you don’t want to say happy birthday…’ My husband is at home dying. So, please give us some respect,” she continued. “Give us some love, okay? You see my son right here? He’s hurting. I’m hurting. We walked in here because we have to walk in here ‘cause we have this business, but my husband is losing his life at this very moment.”
Underneath her latest post, several fellow celebrities and friends sent NeNe their support. Nicki Minaj commented a heart emoji, while Trina wrote, “Praying heavy for you and your family.”
Fellow “RHOA” star Porsha Williams wrote, “Praying for you all during this difficult time.” Tamar Braxton added, “I love you with my entire heart.”
