Social media giant TikTok is taking its influencers to the airwaves. SiriusXM and TikTok have teamed up to launch TikTok Radio, a 24 hour music channel featuring the trending sounds that are redefining pop culture on the video sharing platform.
According to a press release, TikTok Radio will be “sonically synched to the TikTok experience” as the full-time SiriusXM music channel will feel like a radio playlist of TikTok’s “For You” feed.
Listeners can expect to hear an eclectic assortment of trending songs daily. The channel will feature new jams from rising stars, viral hits that are challenge-worthy, and throwbacks. The most viral sounds trending within the TikTok community will be played on a weekly countdown on Fridays called “The TikTok Radio Trending Ten.”
“Our groundbreaking new channel with TikTok is a first-of-its-kind, capturing the pulse of the global music culture, vibrancy and vitality found on the entertaining social platform and recreated as a full-time music channel on live national radio and our streaming platforms,” said Scott Greenstein, President and Chief Content Officer at SiriusXM via press release. “The creators, who are also presenting the music on TikTok Radio, are deeply involved in the channel and will reflect the unique sound and personality of TikTok that is so enmeshed with today’s music culture and community. TikTok creators will be delivering new audio experiences for our listeners as they tap into the latest music trends on TikTok.”
TikTok’s Global Head of Music Ole Obermann said the company is “excited to launch TikTok Radio on SiriusXM.” “Now SiriusXM subscribers will have a new road to discover the latest trends in music and get a first listen to tomorrow’s musical superstars. The channel captures song-breaking music culture that creates so much joy and entertainment on TikTok through video in an all-audio format,” she said.
TikTok has tapped a diverse group of creators to serve as hosts and DJs for the new SiriusXM station. TikTokers may already be familiar with Billy, Cat Haley, HINDZ, Lamar Dawson, and Taylor Cassidy, who will each present music and share stories behind the trends. Some of the most followed personalities and artists from TikTok will assist the hosts this week during a “Creator Invasion” takeover. Normani, Lil Nas X, Ed Sheeran, Jack Harlow, Alex Warren, Dillon Francis and Nessa Barrett are just some of the artists expected to join in on the fun.
