Boosie has extended a warm welcome to Bill Cosby, who was released from prison following a Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruling earlier this week.
“Just got the news Bill Cosby free,” he says in an Instagram video. “Welcome home Bill from Boosie Badazz. Fuck you mean, man? God don’t sleep. They still not gonna let the man outta jail. God don’t sleep, man. Free Bill Cosby! Big day, man. Free Bill, man! I told y’all!”
At the height of the Me Too movement, 60 women came forward with sexual assault allegations against Cosby, but his case involving former Temple University employee Andrea Constand temporarily landed him in jail.
The comedian was accused of drugging and molesting Constand in 2004 at his home in Pennsylvania. In 2006, after former prosecutor Bruce Castor failed to prosecute him, he admitted to drugging women amid depositions for Constand’s civil suit. Castor’s decision deprived him of his Fifth Amendment rights against self-incrimination, so in 2015, his successor Kevin Steele, used information from his testimony to indict him on three counts of indecent aggravated assault charges. He was convicted of the crime and sentenced to three to 10 years in prison.
More than two years into his sentence, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that the comedian was not only robbed of his constitutional rights but his right to a fair trial. As a result, they overturned his 2018 conviction and ordered his release from the state prison.
50 Cent, Timbaland and other a few Cosby fans reacted to the news with celebratory posts, which eventually drew criticism from longtime supporter Boosie.
“Y’all don’t join BILL Cosby team now,” tweeted the Louisiana rapper. “Y’all was clowning me at first #fakeassworld #billfree them hoes lying #facts.”
Not everyone is happy with the outcome of Cosby’s case. Constand and a few other Cosby accusers expressed their disappointment after learning about his prison release.
