Mariah Carey has responded to allegations made by The Sun that she ended her relationship with Roc Nation after an “explosive” fight with label head JAY-Z. In a tweet posted on Monday morning (June 7), Carey denied that a fight between her and Hov ever took place.

“The only ‘explosive’ situation I’d ever ‘get into’ with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song ‘Heartbreaker,’” she tweeted alongside a clip of the song’s music video.

She added, “To the people who make up these lies I say ‘Poof! — Vamoose, sonofa****’!”

Rumors about a contentious meeting between the two stars first surfaced on Friday (June 4) after The Sun report. According to the British tabloid, Carey and JAY-Z were discussing her future at Roc Nation when the meeting “erupted” and “sparked her decision” to leave the company.

The Sun quoted an unnamed source about the incident, who allegedly said, “Mariah and JAY had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all. She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation.”

“She will formally depart in the next few weeks. It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years, but this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse,” the source reportedly added.

The Sun also wrote that Carey is currently working on “a heavily R&B-influenced album” and planning a world tour for 2022.

“She isn’t letting this stand in her way,” the source said, adding that Carey is already looking into new management companies.

In her tweet, Carey neither confirmed nor denied that she ended her relationship with Roc Nation. As she did mention in her tweet, Carey and JAY-Z have worked together in the past on their 1999 hit “Heartbreaker” and on other collaborations as well. The pair teamed up on 2002’s “You Got Me,” Carey’s “Shake It Off (Remix)” and on JAY-Z’s “Things That U Do.”
