Trae Tha Truth is the co-owner of an upcoming ice cream store in Houston, Texas. The shop titled Howdy Homemade Ice Cream is a collaboration between the emcee and his business partner, but in true Trae fashion, it doubles as a charitable act. According to the activist’s recent Instagram post, the new store will be a workplace for employees with special needs.

“This [opening] is special because we will employ special needs young adults and give them an opportunity to work and have a chance to be supported,” Trae wrote in his caption. “We hope to change the way the world looks at everyone…The mission is to inspire and bless others with our blessings!!!”

The new ice cream shop will be the latest store to open in the Howdy Homemade Ice Cream franchise, which works to employ those with Down syndrome and autism.

“Every aspect of Howdy Homemade encompasses the special needs of the huge under-employed segment of our population with one goal: To change the way businesses hire people with special needs,” reads the company’s website. “Today in North Texas alone, there are over 240,000 special needs adults looking for work.”

Howdy Homemade will open on July 22, the same day as the Houston rapper’s annual Trae Day event. That day, he and James Harden are set to announce the lucky winners of his Trae Day scholarships. To be considered for the college funds, eligible recipients must be high school graduates or college students who are struggling financially and are set to take classes in the upcoming fall semester. They are all required to attend Trae Day and explain what the scholarship would mean to them in a 250-word essay. Applications must be submitted by July 5.
