Fresh off unloading his new Chris Brown-assisted single, “Angles,” last week, Wale has officially announced his brand-new project.
On Tuesday (June 22), Wale jumped onto Twitter to give himself a shoutout and announce that his forthcoming new project, Folarin 2, an obvious sequel to his 2012 Folarin mixtape, will be dropping this summer.
“I understand you may feel how you feel for whatever soembody told you…but I just wanna reiterate that I’m one of the greatest of all time,” he wrote in the tweet. “Catalog. Consistency. Influence. Longevity. DMV. With that said “#Folarin2” this summer.🌹”
Wale forecasted the vibes of Folarin 2 when he unloaded “Angles.” Featuring the same breezy sample Diddy used for “I Need a Girl (Part 1),” the track finds Wale kicking game and doing some reflection before C. Breezy jumps into a memorable hook.
“I know your angles, way back then bitches show your bracelets/Cartiers, stack ‘em for days look like Thanos/You sayin’ the universe ain’t grateful (Grateful)/I put infinity stones on all your fingers,” Wale spits on the track, unloading an Avengers reference in the process.
Folarin 2 would be Wale’s first release since last year’s The Imperfect Storm, an EP released at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. Filled with thoughtful lyricism and mellow instrumentals made for reflection, the EP distills all the best parts of Wale into a tight, six-song package. However, naturally, Wale fans would want more new tunes. Now, it looks like they’re going to get some—even if it’s unclear when, exactly, Folarin 2 will be hitting streaming services. Fans can only hope it’s sooner rather than later so they can soak up the summer vibes with a perfect soundtrack.
