Fans will be seeing more of Cardi B in the Fast & Furious franchise after making her F9 debut this Friday (June 25). According to series star Vin Diesel, who spoke exclusively with ET on Monday (June 21), the Bronx-bred rapper is already booked to continue with the cast for F10.
“We are very much excited to evolve her character and to expand it to the finale,” he explained. “She made it just in time. She came in Fast 9 just in time.”
Diesel added, “You know, like I said, the finale’s coming and F9 starts to align everything perfectly for the greatest finale in cinematic history.”
Cardi was a late addition to the F9 cast as Leysa, which Diesel first revealed in October of 2019. Speaking with ET, F9 director Justin Lin also discussed working with the Grammy-winning artist.
“I love Cardi, you know? I mean, it’s amazing she showed up and within a minute she’s part of the family, right?” he told the outlet. “And I love how when I got together with her, her and Vin were talking about the character because she’s actually really embedded into the overall universe. She’s been around for a long time and this is just the first time we are seeing her, so I’m really excited to explore that character of her.”
“I’ll work with her any day,” he added.
Earlier this month, Cardi talked about joining the cast and playing Leysa in a promotional video.
“Vin Diesel reached out and he was talking about a role. I’m like, ‘It’s freakin’ Fast & Furious. Get me there, put me on a plane!’” she said. “I like the fact that I’m representing such a powerful, strong woman. She’s just that bitch. Leysa’s such a badass.”
F9 hits theaters this Friday.
