50 Cent is unsure if he will be involved with Pop Smoke’s next posthumous album. The Get Rich or Die Tryin’ emcee, who served as an executive producer on Pop’s Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon album, sat down for a recent interview with Kris Kaylin to discuss whether or not he would reprise his role for the forthcoming project.

“Steven [Victor] was originally Pop’s manager and the label person that he was signed to. He talked to me about the new record, and I’m not sure if I’ll participate with this, that record,” he said.

“I just wanted to make sure that his record did what it was supposed to,” 50 added. “My interaction with Pop was like he was looking at me like I could tell him the right way to go, and that everything would work based on what I was saying.”

While 50 did not dive into details about why he may step away from a second posthumous album, he did allude that something may have happened behind the scenes. “It’s unfortunate that it actually happened. It’s like the other side of it — when I’m coming up early on, I’m so connected to the environment that everything in the environment, I’m subjected to the same,” he continued.

“Outside of producing the record and having it perform well, I did all the promotion for that record to have it work,” the Queens rapper said. “They would have put it out and you’d have to find it out of basic interest.”

Although 50 may step away from a new Pop LP, his involvement with Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon was major. The album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, giving the late emcee his first chart-topping effort. The project also spent 20 weeks on top of Billboard’s Top Rap Albums, breaking the record for most weeks spent at No. 1.
